PRIMARY JOB PURPOSE
DWA is seeking a dynamic team player, who is passionate about Adaptive Snowsports to join our Resort Services Program at Thredbo Snow Resort. An essential part of this role is the provision of on-snow support to our members, and involves significant manual handling related to equipment such as sit-skis and other adaptive snow equipment, as well as working closely with members with a range of disabilities
The role’s objectives are:
The timely and professional management, administration, and delivery of all aspects of Adaptive Snowsport Resort Services programs and associated activities for Disabled Wintersport Australia (DWA)
The promotion of DWA Resort Services programs at Perisher and the facilitation of the development of winter sports for people with disability
Ensuring that Resort Services programs are managed professionally and to an agreed strategy and budget.

Requirements
Member Support. An essential part of this role is working with DWA program officers and Volunteer adaptive guides on the provision of on-snow support to our members, which involves significant manual handling related to equipment such as sit-skis and other adaptive snow equipment, as well as working closely with members with a range of disabilities.
Guiding Skills. The successful applicant must at minimum be a Level 1 DWA Adaptive Snowsport guide, or equivalent, but Level 2 is preferred. If the person is not yet fully trained, they can be trained up to Level 2 across all aspects of DWA guiding
Snowsports Experience. Knowledge and experience of the Australian Snowsports Industry is desirable including adaptive winter sport in all its forms.
Stakeholder Relations Knowledge and experience of your primary snowsports resort is highly desirable, including understanding of and engagement with stakeholders pertinent to DWA.
Program Management. Knowledge and experience of project/program planning and implementation including cost evaluation and expenditure management.
People Management. Demonstrated practical experience with recruitment, retention, support, supervision, mentoring, recognition, and training of others is required.
Risk Management Knowledge of principles of risk management and their safe application in an Alpine environment is required
Events Management. Experience in facilitating event programs and fundraising initiatives is desirable
Disability Awareness. Understanding of and empathy for the range of disabilities
Child Safeguarding. Must have experience of working with children and be able to demonstrate appropriate behaviours for engaging with children
Teamwork. Willingness to work as part of a team, upholding the core Values of DWA – including integrity, respect, collaboration, accountability, compassion, understanding and fairness.

Duties
Provide leadership and management of program officers and Volunteer Adaptive Snowsports Guides
Coordinate and liaise with DWA management, disability organisations, alpine area Resort Management Boards, Ski Lift companies, and members to plan and facilitate the efficient operation of the DWA Winter Season resort services programs
Manage and deliver, within allocated budget, all approved DWA activities within the Alpine region including performance and administrative reporting requirements as directed by the Chief Executive Officer
Manage the engagement and local recruitment of Volunteer Adaptive Snowsport Guides to support an increase in Guides volunteering for DWA
Manage the ongoing development, mentoring, supervision, retention and training of the program staff and Volunteer Adaptive Snowsports Guides
Fostering team building and social activities for staff and Volunteer Guides
Manage the Guide booking and rostering (assessment of guide to participant suitability and availability) in conjunction with National Office as required, and within an agreed timeframe
Manage member booking enquiries and administration within an agreed timeframe.
Manage and monitor DWA Adaptive equipment ensuring all equipment remains safe and fit for purpose operationally or reporting to DWA management any unsafe equipment.
Ensure equipment repairs and maintenance requirements are identified and undertaken, and stock levels are monitored and recommendations for additional and replacements items are made to DWA management
Welcome, orientate, and farewell members on resort services programs as appropriate and where circumstances allow, either directly or as delegated to other staff or DWA volunteer Guides
Allocate DWA supplied clothing and adaptive equipment to DWA Guides and members on resort services programs
Attend staff meetings including regular teleconferences
Proactively promote a culture of safe working practices and the implementation of risk management processes
Proactively support and assist in the development of fundraising opportunities designed to fund DWA sponsored programs and equipment purchasing initiatives locally and centrally.
Proactively manage and participate in media, marketing, sponsorship, and promotional initiatives designed to increase the number of participants attending the Alpine Region and DWA programs.
Deliver timely and accurate reporting as requested by DWA management
Promote and support of DWA programs for summer activities.
Experience:
Experience in facilitating event programs is desirable.

HOURS OF WORK AND REMUNERATION
Fixed term, variable hours
April - May up to 8 hours per week, on timesheet
June – September up to 38 hours per week, on timesheet
